Donald Trump Promises to Get the Food Police Off Our Backs

If you have any household pets — for that matter, if you're generally concerned about knowing what's in the food you purchase — here's one more reason to NOT vote for Donald Trump (as if there weren't enough already).

The FDA Food Police, which dictate how the federal government expects farmers to produce fruits and vegetables and even dictates the nutritional content of dog food.  The rules govern the soil farmers use, farm and food production hygiene, food packaging, food temperatures and even what animals may roam which fields and when.  It also greatly increased inspections of food 'facilities,' and levies new taxes to pay for this inspection overkill.”

Damn those faceless government bureaucrats!  So, let's say you have a lethal allergy to peanuts, and you've just had a seizure because you ate something that contains peanuts — after the ingredients label assured you that it doesn't — be grateful that we got the government off our backs.

Ditto for your dog or cat that got poisoned from contaminated pet food.  Etc.

Just one more reason not to vote for Trump, as if we needed any more reasons!

Jerry: Exactly. I hope this will sink Trump in the polls. Even if a person eats junk food, nobody wants their pets to eat contaminated food and/or food that contains toxins that aren't listed on the ingredients label.

You are assuming that they even read (or know what an) ingredient label is.

What do you think went through his feeble mind when he thought up this one? Oh, I forgot...pandering.

jadedj: Trump won't dare alienate Big Ag and the Food Syndicate. He needs their backing, even though he's a "self-funded" "billionaire." (Riiight.)

Uh Folks? Ronald Reagan ran on this very same platform - Government regulations that choke sincere companies who want to do the right thing, just let them and things will work out fine. He killed regulations, cut budgets on enforcements, then scratched his head when incidents of contamination and tainted foodstuff sky-rocked during his administration.

Trump sounds like a Republican to me

There's a great new series on PBS called "The Contenders 16-16" details campaigns of 16 that didn't win for President. Tuesday was Pat Buchanan. They said the same things about him they say now about Trump but I didn't think anybody could make Buchanan look smart like Trump does now.

Erik: Some of those 16-16 episodes would probably be more substantial than others. It would be hard to stay awake through entire presentation on Kasich or "Jeb!"

There was a column a few months ago speculating that Trump was actually only worth about $300 million; not the $20 billion he was always bragging about. The columnist ended by saying that if Trump isn't a self-made billionaire, then he's nothing but "a dumber version of Pat Buchanan."
