Aubrey McClendon Has Left The Building
Aubrey McClendon — one of the most ruthless of the fracking barons and former CEO of Chesapeake Energy — has been killed in a one-car accident. When it came to purchasing local politicians, cheating and threatening landowners every way imaginable, Chesapeake Energy had no rivals.
Now, before you get your Schadenfreude on — Aubrey McClendon had just been indicted on federal anti-trust charges the previous day.
Was his one-car accident a suicide? Did he pull a Kenneth Lay and fake his own death? Perhaps some of his fellow conspirators were afraid McClendon might roll over on them in return for a lighter sentence, and arranged for him to have an “accident.”
If that's the case, who are these people and what information are they so desperate to conceal?

Wow, I just can't keep up with all the great, insightful and plentiful commentary here. It's just....too much. Like, start the revolution, man.
Whatever the reason for his death, it certainly looks like another proof of the adage, "What goes around, comes around".
McClendon'existence and for that matter the Koch Bros existence are wonderful examples of why government exists in the first place. Humans cannot be trusted to do the right thing without some boundaries.
MRM: Agreed on both things. What goes around does indeed come around. And the fossil fuel barons' "bull in a china shop" behavior is a perfect example of why government is necessary.
I hate to wish anyone ill, but I'm going to overlook that when it comes to this jerk. He will NOT be missed.
SM: Same here. It's wrong to gloat over someone's death, but in this case I was willing to make an exception :)
