And now the News...

This pretty well sums it up...

Mad picked CNN's "coverage" of the crash in Malaysia one of the stupidest events of that year, showing Psychics with Crystal Balls and Seances.

It's another sign of the downfall of what was one of the most respected news organizations in the country. When the Prior one CBS decided money was more important than quality and laid off most of the department, they went to CNN and turned into world class. Now they all retired and CNN has gone the way of all the others. Fox/MSNBC/CNN even radio all the same, covering the same stories with different opinions from different experts. Only the bias are different.

The once proud 60 minutes is a joke. Only PBS, NPR, and BBC give you any form of Decent news.

Of course and is the leading cause for our societal problems and peoples ignorance of actual truth and facts about issues on any matter.

It is next to impossible to have intelligent logical discussions in the United States. Capitalism will Never be denied.

This picture taken very close to the Wounded Knee burial site. Ann T helps me understand and I literally and completely have no respect for many these days.

Erik: Yup, what we used to think of as "the news" has mutated into a meaningless blob of celebutante gossip and corporate-dictated "press releases." No wonder the Far Right is so anxious to get rid of NPR and PBS.

One Fly: The "media" bombards us with endless "oh look, something shiny!" coverage of useless stories while withholding the information that we actually need. And like you said, this is the leading cause of our mass ignorance and misinformation.

Thanks for the link. Very moving picture.

Isn't that the sad truth? I heard someone say recently that people who watch FOX news actually know LESS about what's going on than people who don't watch the news at all. I actually think most mainstream news is almost as bad. We have to protect NPR and PBS at all costs! They probably aren't perfect, either, but at least it's better than the pap we are force-fed by the "mainstream".

SM: Even scarier is the fact that on certain issues, the general public becomes more ignorant and misinformed as time goes on. Example: shortly after our Iraq invasion, a poll indicated a certain percentage of people believed that Saddam Hussein was involved in the 9/11 attacks. A year or 2 later -- after repeated debunking of any sort of Saddam/al Qaeda connection -- an even larger percentage of the public actually believed this tinfoil hat "Saddam Hussein and Osama bin Laden planned 9/11 together!" bullshit. WTF??? As the saying goes, you can explain something to people but you can't comprehend it for them.
