What's really a shame here is that could be a worker at some of our top respected tech companies like Google, Facebook, Yahoo, etc.,

They drown you in extra benefits like a Gym, a Gourmet Cafeteria, even dry cleaning service. That's all so you can't take time off to get on with your life and devote your full life to them.

Tennessee Ernie Ford still has it right 50 years later "I owe my soul to the Company Store!"

Erik: Yup, it's great isn't it? You can do all your errands during break periods at work, so you never have to leave. The ubiquitousness of cell phones probably paved the way for this. For the past 10 to 15 years, supervisors and clients have gotten more insistent that employees be available 24/7, so everyone is scared shitless of missing that important phone call/text/email.

I have stopped by to make a comment on this particular post, three or four times now. The problem is, the cartoon says it all and I can think of nothing to add. We are so fucked.

Excellent article in the latest Time on how Vacation time is accruing across the workforce and how many people expect to take their work with them when they go on "Vacation"

Erik: Yup, the new "vacation" where you're on call 24/7, and the boss probably has a few homework assignments for you to complete while you're unwinding.
