U.S. will Restore Diplomatic Relations with Cuba

For the first time in over fifty years, the United States will restore diplomatic relations with Cuba and open an embassy in Havana. Whoa!  You mean we's gonna be tradin' with them there Comminists?!?  Next stop, 21st century!

President Obama announced:

“We will end an outdated approach that for decades has failed to advance our interests and instead we will begin to normalize relations between our two countries.”  He said the agreement will “begin a new chapter among the nations of the Americas” and move beyond a “rigid policy that is rooted in events that took place before most of us were born.”

Senator Marco Rubio (RToken) got his panties in a bunch, whimpering that there will be no funding for Obama's new policy, no lifting of the trade embargo and that no ambassador to Cuba will ever be confirmed:

“I’m committed to doing everything I can to unravel as many of these changes as possible.”

What gets me, is that the most well known secret is that the Cuban immigrants in America are the ones violating the Embargo the most. They send millions of dollars to their families every year which SUPPORTS the Castro regime, yet over here they are conservative and some of the most dedicated Republicans in the country as a group.

Gee imagine is a whole Arab community was found sending money to Al Quesda or ISIS, or a whole Colombian Community importing Cocaine.

Plus Rush Limbaugh always bragged that his favorite cigars are Cubans and none of his fans call him on the fact that they're illegal.

Canada, Europe, and just about every other Country in the world trades with them and we should too.

Erik: These rightwing Cuban immigrants are chickenhawks. They want to keep sending money to their own relatives back in Cuba; but Cubans who don't have rich relatives in the U.S. should just keep twisting in the wind and becoming collateral damage in the GOP's culture and ideological war.

Well once the corporations weigh in on trade and Cubans start answering our Customer Service calls, the GOP will deny they ever thought this was a bad idea.

Erik: You're right about corporations being in favor of trade with Cuba. But the GOP anti-communist fanatics will never admit that there's any contradiction between their "free enterprise" rhetoric and their "the only good commie is a dead commie" rhetoric. They're brilliant at holding simultaneous thoughts that contradict each other, and being totally unaware of it.

That's right, it should be making their heads explode.

Sometimes I think if their heads literally did explode due to their being able to rationally reconcile all their contradictions, it might not be *too* bad a thing. Heh!
