When Satan Comes to Virginia, He'll be Disguised as a 16-year-old Girl Selling Donuts

The Devil takes many forms, and a Good Christian can never be too careful.  In the case of Front Royal, Virginia, Satan is working His Evil through the Naughty Girls Donut Shop, owned and operated by 16-year-old Tiana Ramos.  She's a high school senior and works at her shop before and after school.

I would have thought this kind of ambition and work ethic would be a good thing, but what do I know?

Naughty Girls Donut Shop has a 1950s theme, with rockabilly-style clothing worn by the employees and photos of Marilyn Monroe and Betty Page adorning the walls.

Within a week of the store's opening, people started throwing garbage at the building and leaving nasty messages like “Naughty girls burn in hell.”

Next, they started writing Yelp reviews to sabotage the store.  Natalie Ramos, Tiana's mother, said:

“They were talking about how the girls look like hussies.  They didn’t talk about the food or the service.”

And on Facebook and Twitter:

“They were saying that the shop represents sluts and anyone who works there is promiscuous.”

And a group called “Local Catholics of Front Royal” has organized a boycott of Naughty Girls Donut Shop.  Local Catholics of Front Royal is also boycotting a local newspaper that has provided extensive coverage of clergy sex abuse scandals and has been urging the town to overturn a longtime ban on fortune telling.  One resident of Front Royal said fortune tellers and similar businesses should continue to be banned because of “Satanism.”  She said:

“These kinds of businesses do tend to attract, in part, a criminal element.  I don’t like the idea of my kids walking down Main Street and having possibly criminal people lurking around.”

Tiana Ramos said she had hoped her store would be a refuge for people who were bullied at school and/or just didn't fit in with the rest of Front Royal.

When asked if she might relocate her store out of fear of the local Salem Witch Hunters, Tiana Ramos said:

“Heck no.  They’re the reason we’re staying here.”

There you go, I published your off-topic comment even though it had nothing to do with the post.

I wish I didn't believe this, but sadly I do. The "Christian" element in this country (notice the quotation marks -- I'm not talking about the genuinely religious people, just the fundamentalist fanatics) have managed now to be simultaneously blasting people who don't have ambition AND shaming people who do.

Good for Tiana Ramos for her get-up-and-go and for her grasp of the inherent stupidity in her fellow Virginians. You go, girl!

okjimm: Oh my God, Voodoo Donuts?!? I'll take a dozen too.

SM: Yup, unfortunately this story is true, even though it sounds like something out of The Onion or Lampoon Magazine. Every time I think the bar couldn't possibly go any lower, it does. Or as Frasier Crane once said, "Going down!"

I would be so tempted to open a hot dog shop right next door just to get their goat. You know everything phallic.

I think it's wonderful that this 16 year old has the drive to over come all the obstacles that a teen has to deal with in life, she has build a company that most Americans can only dream of. I admire her courage to continue with a dream she believes in and not let these negative people influnce her in her endeavors in becomeing a successful woman in todays society. I would hope in the lords name that you will post this so it will give other teens the hopes that you can do what ever you set your mind to do. Amen for her hard work at such a young age.

There is nothing that these religious morons don't see as Satan is there? Yelp reviews have gotten better since more people have heard about the place Tom. Voodoo donuts are the best though and yes they ship overnight to us here in CA from Oregon.

@Hey anon, you can go write your own shit on your own blog. Tom isn't a DJ that does requests from morons(great band name if I can get a bass player and a drummer)

Magali: I agree. I think that degree of ambition and drive in a 16-year-old should be appreciated by everyone, regardless of religious or political views.

Jess: I'm glad the donut shop's Yelp reviews have gotten better. The publicity is probably helping them and serving as an embarrassment to the local dumbasses who keep harassing them (if people like that are even capable of being embarrassed).

Good for Tiana, may her business live long and prosper in the face of all that ignorance.

Snave: I agree. She probably has more ambition in one finger than the rest of those ignorant small-minded rednecks put together.
