Anti-Obamacare Republicans Have Killed 17,000 Americans (and counting...)
There's no other way to put it. Red state governors and legislators are killing their own people just so they can keep throwing their mass hissy-fit over the Affordable Care Act.
This chart is titled The GOP's Obamacare Death Toll: Projected Body Count by State. It's not pretty.
The chart lists every state that's under Republican control. For each of these states it shows the number of uninsured before the Affordable Care Act, the number of post-ACA uninsured, the number that could have been insured through a Medicaid opt-in, and a high and low estimate of the number of needless deaths.
The 17,000 deaths — from the title of this post — are the high estimate (17,106). The low estimate is 7,114. So to be as fair as possible, the GOP's anti-Obamacare jihad may have only killed 7,000 instead of 17,000.
But in any case the death toll will continue climbing. And what goes around comes around.

The republicans have found a way to combine their healthcare and poverty plans. Dead people don't require either healthcare or food and housing. Hell, death even reduces unemployment.
Till the day I die, I will never understand the Conservative “Darwin-nistic” attitude, their “nice-work-if-you-can-get-it” way of life. It follows their “market” approach of things like “If you didn’t make it, you deserve to fail because you didn’t work hard enough and that’s the way the market works/cookie crumbles”. I’m even more bothered at how their poor followers seem to buy into it, as I refuse to believe they will just sit there, get sick, and do nothing about it. Studies show they will take advantage of programs like this, but still vote for the Conservatives who want to do away with it.
Keep in mind the biggest detractors are themselves getting a hefty health plan, at the taxpayers expense.
Oh yeah I forgot, they’re privileged and worked for it! (Actually they vote their own benefits)

Jerry: Alan Grayson underestimated the GOP's hatred. It's not just sick people that should hurry up and die and get out of the way; the same goes for the unemployed and homeless too.
Erik: It's the eternal mystery, how people continue voting against their own interests, again and again. And like you said, even if they're benefiting from a certain government program, they'll vote against the politicians who made that program possible.
