Mitt Romney: “America is the Greatest Company In The World”

OOPS.  He said it.  Mitt Romney actually referred to the United States as a company.  This has to be the mother of all Freudian slips.  Let’s make it the Freudian slip that sank a presidential campaign.

At an event in Florida this morning, Romney told the audience:

“Paul Ryan and I understand how the economy works, we understand how Washington works, we will reach across the aisle and find good people who like us, want to make sure this company deals with its challenges. We’ll get America on track again.”

Uhh, quick question:  If Mitt Romney becomes the CEO of America Inc., then what will all of our  governors, mayors and county administrators be?  Department heads?  Branch managers?  Supervisors?

And what are the hundreds of millions of American citizens?  Customers?  Employees?  Independent contractors?  Third party subcontractors?  Rival corporations?

Stay tuned…

Now Democrats need to base their convention on, "Our country, not our company".

We love our country, not the "company", too much to surrender it to hateful fascists like this.

Dave: I hope they'll do this.

Randal: Nice ode to the Founding Fathers of our Company.

Trashy: No, YOU defect. Haiti and Somalia are two paradises where you won't find any government bureaucrats meddling in the private sector. Or if you want to live in a theocracy, Iran and Saudi Arabia are beckoning. Buh bye now.

Dave: Amen to that.

Ah, government by the rich of the fat cats and for the wealthy. What a prospect. Oh, wait, I'm lapsing into class warfare again, calling attention to the ongoing assault of the middle class, working class and poor.

Seriously, that Freudian slip should serve as a warning to independents who think Romney and Ryan wouldn't really double down on wealth transfer to the rich from the rest. Government is supposed to be about providing services helpful to all, not profit making to benefit a select few.

When you stop to think about it, that puts Obama way ahead of Romney when it comes to qualifications.

If a corporation is now considered a "person", and if American is now a company, that makes America a "person". So, as Stephen Colbert says, "I am America, and so can you!"

Romney's gaffe is very revealing. It also shows what a horrible and deficient CEO he would be, to view the proper role of government so narrowly.

SW: I sure hope this Freudian slip will get lots of coverage and serve as a red flag for undecided voters.

Snave: "I am America, and so can you!" LOL. I must have missed that episode of the Colbert Report, but that's a great line.

Jack: Yup, very revealing.
