Dodd Frank Exposed
Now don’t get all excited. It’s not the title of a gay porn movie or anything.
Dodd Frank Exposed is the newest Wall Street front group posing as just plain ol’ regular folks who don’t want that there government snooping around in people’s bank accounts.
At a recent gathering, Dodd Frank Exposed staffers had a video playing repeatedly — scary soundtrack and all. The narrating voice was saying:
“From the same people who brought you Obamacare comes a controversial sequel: Dodd Frank. Last year, President Obama and the Democrat-run Congress rushed through the sweeping overhaul of healthcare amounting to the unconstitutional power grab followed quickly by Dodd Frank Wall Street Reform And Consumer Protection Act. Just like Obamacare it created a massive, unconstitutional regulatory bureaucracy. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau is a runaway regulatory machine completely unaccountable to the president, the Congress, and the courts.”
The two main “everyday citizens” in charge of Dodd Frank Exposed are Gary Marx — vice president of Ralph Reed’s lobbying firm, Century Strategies — and Robert Bork, Jr. (no comment).
The above-mentioned apple that didn’t fall far from the tree has made a career out of coordinating front groups on behalf of corporate conglomerates. And his favorite clients are corporations that are responsible for huge environmental or financial disasters. Bork comes up with a folksy spin, portraying the corporation as a “good citizen” who wants to do the right thing, and/or a “victim.”
In a memo to a group of corporate attorneys, Little Bork wrote:
“A carefully designed communication strategy that includes third parties has the potential to persuade key audiences. It gives you credibility and increases your chances of success.”
OK teabaggers — gather up your misspelled signs and get ready for some more of them spontaneous demonstrations.

What a steaming, revolting pile of something you don't want on your shoe. Complete lie, starting with the fact the damn thing isn't even in operation yet. Hard to be runaway with regulating before you've done anything.
But never fear, government haters will eat it up and spread the message by word of mouth at coffee breaks, golf greens and barber shops everywhere. And soon, 30 percent to 60 percent of the white, middle-aged male population will swear and be damned every word of it is true.
Amazing just bribing congress isn't enough now they have to get grass roots suckers to do it!
Obviously all of the Tea Party supporters must be in the small minority whose 401k's and other investments were left untouched by the crash.

Most of us who know lots of them understand that as they never had 401K's, it was never really a problem for them to worry about.
They are largely ex-government, lower-level (mainly state and local) employees who had protected employment funds which makes them feel safe, and, oh yes, they're extremely excited to tell you that Social Security will be cut for those younger than they.
Now this may not be entirely true, but I know the perceived truth of this. I hear it everyday at my McDonalds from these rightwingnut Tea Bagger retirees.
SW: Yup, definitely a steaming pile. There's no lie these corporate lobbyists won't stoop to, and no shortage of useful idiots willing to spread it.
Erik: Bribing Congress is all well and good, but the Oligarchs can accomplish even more when they have whole herds of useful idiots to help them.

Suzan: It's hard to picture government employees, or even retirees, being teabaggers. But we live in interesting times.
They're creating new bogeymen faster than they can scare people with the ones they created last week.
If they want to scare people with something, they can talk about Total Information Awareness, which as I recall, was something THEY were pushing in the early 00's and which continues to be developed (and anyone who isn't aware of TIA maybe needs to check it out).
Hey, I am a public schools teacher and some of my fellow teachers and public employees are teabaggers. Go figure!
Snave: I'd forgotten all about Total Information Awareness; I just now Googled it. That's the kind of behind-the-scenes activity that gives credibility to conspiracy theories. Or like they say, just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't following you.
