Wisconsin Union-Crippling Vote is All About the 2012 Election

You already knew that of course. But this time it’s not just a bunch of liberal tinfoil-hatters saying it. This time it’s straight out of the Koch-cum-infested mouth of Wisconsin Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald.

On Fox News, the Koch Whore said:

“If we win this battle, and the money is not there under the auspices of the unions, certainly what you’re going to find is President Obama is going to have a much difficult, much more difficult time getting elected and winning the state of Wisconsin.”

Any questions?

For now, Wisconsin is locked in a He Said She Said argument over whether the union-crippling vote violated Wisconsin’s open meetings law. Democrats say the open meetings law was violated; Republicans say it wasn’t. Maybe the new law will be tied up in the courts for awhile.

Hopefully a few Wisconsin Republicans will have been recalled by the time the issue is settled.

And here’s one for the books: a lobbying firm, BGR Group, will be holding a fundraiser for Wisconsin’s Corporate Republicans. They need a fundraiser? What’s next, an emergency relief drive for Wall Street CEOs? Donating a slingshot to Goliath?

Repugs screaming that the sky is falling, then jumping in and pulling it down around us. Hell, Chicken Little was right, she just failed to mention that it was the GOP.

Randi Rhodes went off on that statement by Fitzgerald this afternoon. As always with today's radical Republicans, it's about money, power, control and politics. Public service doesn't even make their list.

The only way this plague on our politics, government and country is ever going to change, even marginally, is if they're resoundingly defeated in several elections in a row. That's pretty much what happened in the 1930s and early 1940s, and relatively speaking, they became more moderate and cooperative.

It does seem that way, when one side gets its butt kicked by people that are fairly radical, it does take an election or cycle to get things back. But the way these Republicans are going about their heavy-handed business and wielding such big clubs, I think the independent voters who put them in office this last time are not going to be quite as willing to keep them there.

Let's get the recall votes rolling in Wisconsin, and get those guys out. Same in other states, recall the ones who are the most punitive and heavy-handed, because America doesn't need that on the national, state, or local levels. S.W. is right, if the thugs are to be taught a lesson, it will have to be at the ballot box.

To paraphrase Ann Coulter, "We need to recall people like Scott Walker in order to physically intimidate conservatives by making them realize that they could be recalled, too."

jadedj: Nice description of what the wingtards are doing -- "screaming that the sky is falling, then jumping in and pulling it down around us."

SW: The fact that Fitzgerald actually said this over the air is a perfect example of "the hubris before the fall."

They're much too complacent and unaware; it's time for them to fall.

Snave: I sure hope there's some buyers' remorse among liberals and independents who either didn't vote or voted Republican last November. I hope they'll rectify the error of their ways in 2012. In the meantime, let's get those recalls started.
