Jon Stewart and Republican Hypocrisy over 9/11 First Responders

It isn’t exactly a newsflash that the GOP is a bunch of two-faced motherfuckers. Tax loopholes for hedge fund managers are more important than unemployment insurance for people who’ve lost their jobs during the worst downturn in seventy years. War is good, as long as I don’t have to do any of the fighting myself.

And remember: if anyone criticizes or even questions the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, scream “9/11” at the top of your lungs. And what about the 9/11 First Responders who are sick or disabled? Fuck ‘em! They were last year’s prop. We don’t need ‘em any more. Run along now.

Here are links to three recent Daily Show segments. Even by Jon Stewart standards, he tears conservatives a new one.

This article has two Jon Stewart videos; and the third one is found here.

I hope you’ll check out the three videos when you get a chance. You’ll laugh while pounding your fist on the keyboard.

Last night's Daily Show was Jon Stewart's best effort in years! I was literally pounding my drink on the coffee table and saying, "Well damn said!" several times during the broadcast.
Tried to embed the clips myself, but they won't come up on my blog for some reason.
Anyone who didn't see last night's show should be required to watch it, though.
Now our state's junior Senator Corker is holding the START Treaty hostage until Reid drops the cloture motion on Don't Ask, Don't Tell, as if a nuclear arms race is related to gays in the military.
(heavy sigh...)

I find it interesting that John Stewart, once a mild mannered comedian,is now so respected for his satire of the news that said satire is now news unto itself.

That was sweet. I hope Stewart likes Fox a little less...

I know I'm personally shocked at such a development.

Squatlo: Yup, Jon Stewart can sure rip them a new one when he's pissed off enough.

Since I'm late replying to comments, DADT has now been repealed by the Senate (assuming Obama won't veto it). We'll have to see if Republicans get even by derailing New START.

Thomas: It's ironic, Jon Stewart is a more reliable news source than most of the "media."

Tim: I'm sure he likes it even less now.

Demeur: Yup, that's their party platform.

Randal: Shocking indeed.

I can't understand why the democrats didn't pass this with the majority in both houses.
I guess they really don't want it either but they like that they can blame it on the republicans.

I don't understand it either. Democrats are either too spineless, or two-faced, or both.

I think you nailed it when you said "what about the 9/11 First Responders who are sick or disabled? Fuck ‘em! They were last year’s prop." It's reminiscent of are old buddy Rumsfled saying "you go to war with the army you have" while the troops were being ordered not to use the far more effective bullet proof vests their relatives were sending from home. They truly are heartless, two-faced assholes.

Sad when a comedian is the one doing all the hard hitting interviews isn't it? I watched this the other night and was so pleased with those guys being able to hold their cool. I would have been pissed off.

Bee: You could say he "out Jon Stewarted" himself.

Rick: It's too bad more people can't see through the Republicans' ruthlessness. Soldiers, 9/11 first responders -- they're all just props to be tossed aside after they've been used.

Jess: Sad but true -- Jon Stewart really is more reliable than most of the "media."
