Social Security Recipients: “Go Ahead, Make My Day!”
Wall Street’s congressional prostitutes (formerly known as Republicans) might want to think again before trying to derail Social Security. Judges who deny or delay people’s Social Security claims are receiving more threats than ever.
Times are tough and people are pissed. Obviously it’s wrong to threaten a judge for any reason. In any case, judges are just interpreting the law as it already exists; they aren’t writing the laws.
Now, if there’s anybody who deserves threats and retaliation (not that I‘m advocating anything of the sort), it’s the lawmakers who keep trying to “privatize” Social Security. Take Paul Ryan (please!). Now there’s a scumbag that should be watching his back. The above-linked article should be a wakeup call for Wall Street’s puppets in Congress: There are a lot of pissed off, desperate people out there, and they know where to find you.
In other news: How’s this for a Man Bites Dog story? A drunk driver crashed into 14-year-old Matthew Kenney, who was riding his bike, killing him. The drunk driver — David Weaving — is currently serving a ten-year prison sentence, since this is his umpteenth DUI conviction. And from behind bars, he’s filing a lawsuit against the parents of his 14-year-old victim. They allowed their son to ride his bike without a helmet, so the whole thing was their fault.
A serial drunk driver named David Weaving?!? If Herb Caen were still alive, he’d be having himself another “name phreak.”
Anyway, killing a kid on a bicycle and then suing his parents??? In case David Weaving’s fellow inmates are looking for somebody to shank…

David Weaving: he wasn't drunk this time and according to his suit the kids were doing reckless stuff.

Times are just start getting tough I feel. I think we're in for it.
Why does it take so long for cases to go through? Do they not have enough people to cover the backlogs in the departments maybe. I hope they don't get away with cutting people's Soc Sec benefits this would be awful for those people that depend on that to get by.
Just when you think you have heard everything a story like this drops by. How is this guy even allowed to bring such a suit forward in front of any court is beyond me. I cannot imagine what that boys 'rents are going through, after having their son killed now his killer is suing them. Another question I would have answered, why in the hell was he he driving, if he had been convicted before on DUI charges.
Ryan is a fine example of a movement conservative and corporate errand boy who got himself elected to Congress. Thanks to an epidemic of cluelessness, gullibility and masochism among voters, Ryan's type will be dime a dozen in the House.
I hope Ryan touches the third rail once too often and gets burned at election time.

So we privatize Social Security and then we can beat up the Haliburton and Morgan Stanley Arbitrators instead of the Administrative Law Judges. I can live with that.
Jess the biggest reason why there is such a backlog is that Social Security habitually denies cases to see if someone is serious enough to try again.

Tim: There are some shrewd lawyers out there, for better or worse.
Jess: The Powers That Be probably want Social Security to be slow and cumbersome, so they can point to it and say "see, the government is too slow and inefficient; government isn't the answer."
Makes you wonder why they allow people to keep driving no matter how many DUIs they have.
