Locusts, Birthers and Other Pests

What do you do when you’ve got a bunch of insect pests swarming and buzzing all around you? Flies, mosquitoes, Birthers — Hawaii has decided to just ignore them.

Rightwing fringe groups have used this tactic for a long time — bringing local governments to a standstill by bombarding them with jillions of record requests. And Hawaii’s government agencies have finally had enough.

Instead of denying the afterbirthers’ requests, my choice would be to charge them a huge fee for the information. Make ‘em pay through the yinyang. The birthers themselves should be in favor of this. After all, they’re a bunch of racist inbreds who hate the government. And here they are, requesting a free service from the government they hate. That there’s Socialism!

And just think of the pride that a Birther would feel if he could look at himself in the mirror and think, “I requested a service from the gubmint, and I paid for it myself. Now I cain’t afford no chewin’ tabacca for a coupla weeks, but I pulled myself up by my own bootstraps I did.”

Have you ever donated to a charity, or a cause, and then found out that none of the money actually went to that cause? Don’t feel bad — it happens to rightwing political donors too.

The Republican Majority Campaign — a California PAC — collected $1.7 million from conservative donors last year. More than 98% of that money was used for the group’s own salaries, perks and “operating expenses.” To paraphrase P.T. Barnum, you can have money pouring out of every orifice and still be dumber than a fuckin' stump.

Hey, how about those Compassionate Conservatives? They just keep getting nicer and kinder and gentler all the time.

The local inbreds gathered outside the office of Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Ohio) yesterday, to shout what Dick Armey and Tim Phillips told them to shout. There was a counter-protest nearby that included a man holding up a sign saying he had Parkinson’s Disease. One of the teabuggerers called him a Communist. Another one threw some money at him. And another one yelled out “If you’re looking for a handout you’re in the wrong end of town.”

And these douchebags are going to take back Congress in November? That does it — beam me up Scotty.

I wrote something on these losers today too.I understand that we all prefer one party or the other, but you can see this like you said is just a vast network of racist white men who are up in arms over having a black president.

You forgot about the "fact" that Obama is going to ban fishing, which has a certain segment of Teabagger Central upset because they won't be able to get in a jon boat and leave a trail of floating empties behind them while "fishing". Well, except that it's not true, of course -- nobody is banning recreational fishing of anything, other than of endangered species. Last I heard, neither bigmouth bass nor catfish (favorite targets of these inbred beer-guzzlin' galoots) is endangered...

Yet there's still a chance these dumbasses can get elected in November? Clearly this is proof that there is no God, because if there was, He would be striking them all down with lightning from the heavens for doing so much sinful lying...

Paul and Kerry: They sure are losers. Fear of a Black President, to paraphrase a rap album from 20-odd years ago. I'll check out your post.

BadTux: I heard about that too, all this mass panic on the Right about Obama banning fishing. Now that he's already taken their guns and religion away from them, no doubt their fishing rods will be next. Those people are too gullible for words.

The right wing exists in an altered reality of American exceptionalism. They refuse to listen any reasonable voice that doesn't tell them what they want to believe. Dishonesty is better than the truth if it reinforces their belief system. And the thugs who harass politicians from the other side of the spectrum are patriots who just happen to behave like spoiled children.

Lew: Since those rightwing assholes listen so uncritically to everything Rush O'Hannity tells them, they ought to just stay home and watch TV all the time and never leave the trailer.

The biggest birther of all Oily Taint, is refusing to pay her fine saying the judge is trying to silence her. She filed ppr work for Ca attorney general too, so we'll see how far she gets with that. This is who these citizens of teabagistan follow and it is positively shameful how stupid they are.

That show of cruelty outside Kilroy's office was terrible. Had I been there, that guy who threw the money would have had an earful. I don't understand why no one said anything to him about how nasty and mean he was. The one guy with the baby there, looked like he was laughing. It is just getting nastier and nastier with the hate here from the righties, who think we should all do their bidding.

I had one of them served Monday with a TRO and he was just horrid to my best friends boyfriend and just going off on "how dare she persecute Christians in this way" Blabbity blabbity, I am a good Christian trying to save her eternal soul and this is how I am repaid by the devils most favored minion, crazy talk like that. This guy is in training, to be a teacher, teaching kids in a school. I swear I busted a gut laughing, when he told me half the stuff the guy said about me having the gall to serve him. Persecution my ass, bastard deserved what he got and more. My best friend said he wished he had been the one serving him, he would have smacked him into the middle of next year just because.

I use charity navigator when I donate to any causes I am not familiar with. I counsel everyone to do the same, if they are unfamiliar with a charity. Or I donate to places, that friends have told me about and have donated to themselves. Gives you a run down of how the fund raising is done and how much actually goes to the charity. Or I go directly to local things with items. You know, taking bleach, animal toys, blankets, food to the animal shelter or food to the local food bank. That way you know EXACTLY what your stuff will be used for.

I saw the video of that hateful behavior in Ohio, I am sure it's bouncing around the sphere until something worse comes along and like JR said: It will.

In my opinion this is what the small portions of the republican party of “birthers, baggers and blowhards” have brought you. They are good at “Follow the Leader” of their dullard leaders, they listen to Beck, Hedgecock, Hannity, O’Reilly, Rush and Savage and the rest of the Blowhards. Are you surprise at what they do when you know what they think? The world is complicated and most republicans (Hamiliton, Lincoln, Roosevelt) believe that we should use government a little to increase social mobility, now its about dancing around the claim of government is the problem. Although most republicans are trying to distant themselves from this fringe they have a long way to go. And as they said in WACO "We Ain't Coming Out".

Jess: "Oily Taint" -- LOL. Those assholes really should create their own nation of Teabagistan so they can get the fuck out of this country.

Those assholes taunting the guy with Parkinson's -- that has to be the lowest thing I've seen in a long time. But as JR and Holte said, they'll soon sink even lower.

People really do have to be wary of donating to fake charities and causes. In that particular case, it couldn't have happened to nicer people.

JR: You can rest assured, they'll sink even lower.

Holte: Yes, there's always room for sickfuck people to stoop ever lower.

Randal: I hate it when they clutter up the streets like that. And besides, they've already been born; who needs them?

Montana: "birthers, baggers and blowhards" -- good description of today's GOP. Republican leaders created this monster, and now they have to wear it around their necks like an albatross.

First off, I think the entire Birth Certificate issue is nonsense, but did I read correctly that "the state still gets between 10 and 20 e-mails seeking verification of Obama’s birth each week, most of them from outside Hawaii"

10 to 20 a week?. So that's approx. 3 emails a day, Monday through Friday.

Is that enough cause to CONSIDER passing legislation that restricts public access to public information? 3 emails a day!

Joaquin: It's hard to know what to do. I thought the news story was amusing more than anything. It's a double-edged sword. I thought the birther story was good for a laugh (even if I don't think that's the best approach), but I'd be less amused if we had a Republican president and a leftwing group was cut off by the records dept.

The town where I live (pop. 20,000) just hired a full time person to process all the records requests they've been getting. They also were grumbling about people who requests zillions of records just so they can be a nuisance.

Like I said in my post, charging an extra fee might be a solution when it's obvious the person is just trying to make a statement or be a pest.

I hear ya, Tom.
We are in an age where information is king and public information is...............public.
Believe me, I'm not comfortable with anyone being able to get information about my properties etc etc etc, but county register of deeds records are online and available to anyone.
We are all advocates of freedom of information, transparency, sunshine laws.............till they come knocking at your door.
We either 'put it all out there' or we don't.
