Oil and Coal Industries Can’t Get Their Message Out

Why isn’t this working??? Fox News is dutifully bombarding its Inbred Battalion with the same talking points every day. Global warming is a myth! Obama is trying to RUIN the economy by Taking Over The Government!!!

The oil, coal and nuclear industries have spent hundreds of billions of dollars — possibly trillions — bribing Congress, running sleazy TV commercials and creating phony “grass roots” front groups to stage orchestrated “demonstrations” against the evils of greenhouse gas legislation.

And what have they got to show for it? After trillions of dollars and gazillions of Talking Point Hours, what have they achieved? Nada. Zip point shit.

No matter how much blood money gets spent by the energy conglomerates to brainwash the public, most Americans still believe that climate change legislation will HELP the economy.

Less than one third of the public actually believes the Republican Noise Machine shitspray about jobs being destroyed by climate change/cap-and-trade legislation.

Well, it’s back to the drawing board for the Energy Cartels:

Spend trillions of dollars bribing as many government officials as necessary — Check.

Spend another few trillion to create dozens of “grass roots” front groups to pose as everyday “we’re just like you!” demonstrators and protesters — Check.

Give daily instructions to our “media” puppets for the most efficient indoctrination of the maximum amount of chattel — Check.

What else can we do????????

I will not stand for this. When I get off work, I'm going straight home and burning some oil in my backyard, which is my right as an American. Go on and stop me, federal government, I'm armed, I've got a Nerf gun with hundreds of rounds. Take that, granola-eating acid freaks!

This is good news. The public is finally giving some credence to reality.

I wouldn't lump nuclear in with fossil fuels. Nuclear is the only source of energy that can meet global demand and is meaningfully sustainable.

People are just paranoid about it for no good reason.

That's it Graves! We'll run you down to the Cyahoga river and set it on fire.

Nuclear? Just ask anyone from Wa. state about WHOOPS (sic) and get ready for an earful.

I wish I could say that the overwhelming majority of my fellow Americans get it that the right-wing noise machine lies to them incessantly. I wish I were convinced the American public realizes at last that if Republicans are pushing an idea, the opposite is true or necessary.

Unfortunately, in this case I'm pretty sure most Americans find frequent reports of melting polar icecaps, monster icebergs adrift at sea, plus the foreign consensus that this is for real, compelling evidence.

That's good because it means most Americans are making sense of this, screening out the right-wing noise. It's bad because it means that on other things most people are still vulnerable to being swayed by corporate America and the political right's big-lie campaigns.

Randal: I'll go you one better. When I get home I'm gonna cut down all those sissy trees in the neighborhood while I'm burning oil in the front yard.

Thomas: I'm not sure what to think about nuclear power. I was against it during the '70s and '80s, but the fact that several European countries are relying heavily on it -- I'm having second thoughts.

Lisa: If you knew the meaning of the word cartel, you'd see how meaningless your comment is.

Demeur: Is that when Dixie Lee whatever her name is was governor? I wasn't in Washington then. I've heard some horror stories about Hanford. Like I was saying above, I'm not sure what to think about nuclear power. Or "I was for it before I was against it" or something.

SW: I've seen other recent articles saying that cap-and-trade and other anti-pollution laws will create jobs. I hope this fact gets more widely known, so we can finally move away from the false choice of "jobs or the environment."

Unfortunately, Congress always votes according to which side offers the biggest bribes, not what the lowly public wants.

Tom I am going one better than you. I am just going to set the trees on fire using up dirty oil and coal as a starter. Hell, I'll just set the neighborhood on fire. We don't need shelter anyway right? What is disturbing to me are the poll numbers going down for people's understanding on what this is. You can always count on that 20-30% though, that think the Lawd will save the planet. Who are those people and how do I avoid them in public?

Scientific theory is just what it says a "theory", no scientist worth a damn would say he/she is 100% sure of anything, even Einstein called his great paper E=MC2 the Theory of Relativity, but when top people, with proper degrees, from top universities from around the world, form a long line supporting the idea that we are sowing seeds for our destruction, we should at least listen. The laws of Physics and Thermodynamics cannot be ignored, well they can and they are.

No, dumbass, a religion is generally framed around things that are NOT provable. Things people can NOT see. You know what I mean; Jesus, Vishnu, a Rushpubliscum with a IQ over 40, a positive Chimpy accomplishment.

Your projection doesn't work here, dolt.

If the Oil and Coal industry have a problem getting their message out, perhaps they need more tax breaks so they can use their capital to spread the gospel of carbon.

"shitspray"...That, sir, is a GREAT word.

I saw a headline recently, in the past week, that more americans don't believe in climate change. The numbers seem to change drastically depending on the source.

Jess: Now you're on the right track. And while you're at it, might as well shoot as many animals as you can. Who needs 'em anyway; there weren't created in God's image.

Holte: The Bible don't say nothin' about no Thermodynamics. It don't matter what a bunch of them fancy schmancy scientists think. And besides, Creationism is a science. James Dobson said so.

JR: Ironically, back in the mid '90s some rightwing "property rights" group tried to say that ecology is a religion. They tried to get a bunch of environmental laws overturned on grounds of separation of church and state. And at the same time, "creationism" is a science. There's just no figuring that rightwing mindset.

Lew: That's the answer -- more tax breaks and subsidies for the oil and coal industries.

Bee: It's hard to tell; these surveys all report something different. I like to think that the public isn't as dumb as the Foxsuckers think they are. But maybe I'm deceiving myself.

Al Gore is a Climate Capitalist.

Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank and the rest of the democrats in the administration only want capitalism for themselves by using tax payer dollars.

Michael Moore is a fat capitalist.

George Soros is a World Capitalist.

Al Franken the Comedian diaper wearing senator needs a beat down.

Global Warming has turned int a religion ecause if they really wanted to fix it they would put caps on energy use and and charge for use after the fact but noooooo they want to stick it to the American citizens and tax us for every friggin breath we take.
It's a religion and the only time liberals will kneel except when they are doing the deed.

Who will Obama heed to? The American people and our constitutional system of checks and balances, or the dictators, tyrants, and mostly undemocratic heads of government brought together by the United Nations in Copenhagen this week? They are tempting him to do what he wants is dying to do and what they mostly do: ignore the will of their own people and sign a political agreement based on an unconstitutional sham.

I know Tom you hate the fact there is actual debate and not just go along with everything the Dear Leader does.
You think out poor people would be upset if they actually knew that we are sending poor countries 30 billion dollars instead of giving it to them?

what's wrong with being a capitalist? do you prefer socialism or communism? Or have you got something else in mind?

Personally, my preference is democratic capitalism.
