Republicans — Everybody is the ENEMY, Even Big Business

The current Republican Party is so anti-everything and so full of hatred and fear and loathing, they even hate their traditional allies. They probably hate themselves most of all. No wonder they're the biggest customers of those bondage and S&M hookers. "Whip Me!" "Gouge my nipple! Uuuugghhh!!! It hurts soo gooood!!!"

They aren’t even the party of Big Business any more. Their only purpose is to derail anything and everything Obama tries to do. And some of those traitorous corporations are actually cooperating with that commie president. NOOO!!!

The most glaring example right now is the health reform debate. As this article by Peter Suderman says:

“From the time the bill hit Congress, Republicans found themselves opposite big industry interests. From the drugmakers to the doctors to the insurers, every major player in the health-care battle declared themselves willing to work with Democrats to enact some variant on reform.”

Former Senate Majority Leaders Bob Dole and Bill Frist have both spoken out in favor of at least some portions of Obama’s health reform agenda. And they both have financial ties to the health care industry.

It’s the same with every other task Obama is trying to accomplish. Clean energy legislation, the stimulus, regulating the finance industry — some businesses are in favor of these reforms, or they’re at least wanting to cooperate and compromise with the Democrats. But Republicans? If that Kenyan Fascist Muslim babykilling Socialist wants it, Republicans are agin’ it. No ifs. No exceptions.

Whenever that Republican Big Tent threatens to get too big or too diverse, the exit door opens. Anyone who isn't hateful or bigoted enough gets the Heave-Ho.

This whole thing brings to mind Bob Dylan's hilarious 1960's song "Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues".

He's pretending to be a paranoid neurotic wingtard John Bircher type, thinking that everybody's a hidden Communist agent trying to subvert the country. He ends the song with "So now I'm sittin' home investigatin' myself! Hope I don't find out anything...hmmm, Great God!"

The next logical step is for Republicans to start torturing and executing themselves for being everything they hate. If only...

Republican “purists” always say they need to “stand for something,” to stick to their “principles” and weed out those pussy moderates and "RINOs." And what would those principles be? Anyone know???

Republicans haven't had a big tent since the last time Teddy Roosevelt went hunting big game.

I heard a good line Thurdays, and I'll be darned if I can remember who said it. It goes that Republicans are rapidly going from being the Party of No to being the Party of Nobody.

Funny, and it works for me!

Well, the principles of the unprincipled, of course. They're really starting to look like a bad version of the Mob.

I'm sure your right-wing stalker will have something to say about...I dunno, UFO's, or some other completely off-topic thing or another.

I'm not an economist, and if I played one on teevee, I'd probably shoot myself - hey, no clapping - but I seem to remember the diminishing utility of hamburger example from Econ 101 many moons ago.

The wingnuts have obliterated such a notion and even after being stuffed to the gills, continue to shovel greasy burgers of lunacy down their gullet. Give them a few months and even Hitler will have been too much a pantywaist.

They really are seething right now and that's a fact. You citing Dylan's "Talkin' John Birch Paranoid Blues" inspired me to check on a few republican favorite movies.

Republican leader Rush Limbaugh's favorite is Dr. NO

Republican co-leader Glenn Beck's is 12 Angry Men

Republican co-leader Ann Coulter is crazy about It's NOT A Wonderful Life and The Good, The Bad and The Socialist

They need to be watching a little more Disney and calm down a bit.

This is a regular cycle. While in power the so called fiscal and free market conservatives sit back and enjoy the gravy while their party spends into a hole and gives tax breaks, shelters and subsidies to stifle any sort of free trade competition or wave the anti-trust rule to allow corporations to wipe out their competition. When they are out of power they pop their heads up and say “we need to get back to our core principle” (they also say we need more diversity but you know where that one goes). They did it when Reagan left office, but since no conservative will ever say a bad word about Reagan, they blamed HW Bush for the mess, When Clinton was in Office they “stuck” to their core values but when “W” took over they all ran up to ring the big triangle bell and hollered “DINNER!” to their corporate friends and loaded their plates until they ran over with tax breaks and subsidies.

Here we go again! My guess is this will change if they win the midterms and then they can start singing “Happy Days are Here again” and start doling out the pork and gravy!

Another part of this comes from the hold-the-line-and-Disagree- with-anything-Obama-says-or-does until at least the midterms

Did you read this line Lisa?

“Ryan and DeMint believe that the Republican Party bears the blame for the current state of affairs. While in power, Republicans became too used to making bargains with business, such as the Medicare prescription-drug benefit, which provided the pharmaceutical industry with a windfall at taxpayers' expense. As a result, the party got "caught up in trying to win different industries by doing something for them," says DeMint. Now "established firms are used to cutting deals with the party in power.”

Republicans are working hard to prevent any undoing of their previous fourteen years of destroying the middle class and enslaving working folks to the yoke of family destroying free trade policies that make the rich people richer and send the majority of people to the blood bank or unemployment line.

S.W. that was my hero rep Alan Grayson(D-HUGE SET, Florida). They are just tacking too far to the right for moderates in this country. I don't see them picking up many seats next year at all. People are seeing they are in bed with big corporations and it is pissing them off, unless they are paste eating, mouth breathers. It's still too fresh in people's minds the state of the country and how big business was gotten off the hook by the reps. I saw some poll this morning from Faux news, of all places, that are blaming the last admin for all the wrong that is happening now.

Bee, at least the Mob is up front about how they will screw you. It is the backdoor screwing people don't take kindly to. Poor Mob being compared to the reps in office right now.

Jess, thanks. Now that you mention Grayson, I recall where and when I heard it. Grayson joins Schumer, Franken, Boxer, Rockefeller and Kucinich as the kind of Democrat we need more of.

They say that but they have their ace in the hole

1 Winning in Afghanistan
2 A For Sure Jobs program (ie tax cuts)
3. End the evil Socialism
4. Remind their members that "he isn't like us"
5. And then promise to produce the Kenyan Birth Certificate

They'll sweep the midterms

SW yer welcome. I love a dem that acts like one. Boxer is my senator and I have nothing but good things to say about her, Lieberman in a skirt (Di-Fi) is the other one. Schumer pissed me off with his vote on Mukasey. He has been great on the HCR though, so he gets kudos for that. Feingold, Whitehouse and the rest of the dems like that need to be cloned. Sanders too, even though he technically isn't a dem.

Erik, they have learned not thing one about Afghanistan. There hasn't been one empire, including us, that has won there and I don't see us doing it either. There really needs to be some kind of nation building that happens there IMO. Tax cuts, gays, guns and abortion hardly work anymore except with those 20%ers. Younger people that went out to the polls last year just don't care about those issues as much. I just hope the ones that voted for the first time last year keep going out to the polls the way they did. If we do, the reps will see themselves go by way of the whigs. I mean look at NY-23, they spent almost a million on their GzeroP candidate there and ended up, with Bible Spice's nod, approving of a right wing nut job. They are alienating women, gays, brown people, you know " the other", and without those groups they will stay a primarily white, pasty faced, doughy pant load southern party. Which is entirely fine by me, except I feel so sorry the liberals in those states have to put up with such sorry representation.

SW: That's true about their "big tent," but they sure do like that slogan. I like them becoming the Party of Nobody.

Bee: I think they're worse than the Mob, since they're pretending to be a legitimate business that "cares." With the Mob at least you know what you're getting.

Randal: Yes, Hitler was a pantywaist. He wasn't bigoted enough or ruthless enough.

Holte: I think they should turn off the TV and DVD player, period, and look out the window. The wingnuts don't have a clue what's going on outside of their sheltered little world.

Erik: Good description of the Republican cycle. Now that Dumbya has spent us into debt and transferred billions of dollars upward to his contributors, the wingtards are "shocked" at the debt we're in. Time to revive their "core" principles" again. I hope they don't get the chance any time soon.

Lew: Good one. That's the Republican philosophy in a nutshell.

Jess: I agree about the Mob; at least you know who you're dealing with.

We definitely need more Democrats that act like Democrats and carry out the will of the people who elected them. And you're right about Afghanistan. They've been invaded and temporarily occupied by everyone from Alexander the Great to England. Every one of those would-be conquerors left with their tails between their legs, wishing they'd never heard of Afghanistan. It won't be any different for us.

jadedj: I'm sure she'll be stopping by to entertain you.

Erik, I'm willing to bet you a bottle of your favorite spirits that the Rushpubliscums aren't going to sweep anything in the midterms. They'll pick up seats down in Dixie, but that'll be about it.

Their in-your-face racism, and their utter lack of any platform other than opposition to the President, will both provide potent ammunition to shoot back at them in 2010. They are writing the campaign ads that will be used on them later.

Think about it; their public faces are "Mooch" McConnell, "Junket John" Boehner (who may draw a primary opponent here in the form of a very popular County Sheriff,) DeKlansman, "Luscious Liindsey" Graham, Blunt, Caribou Barbie.... this ain't the Rushpubliscum face of 1994, and the voter demographic has swung again, thanks to those Hispanics they're always demonizing.

Nah. They ain't gonna sweep anything. I might even be wrong about them locking Dixie up.

What a stunning role reversal right? The Democrats should now oppose the rights for gays to marry, prohibit any further talk on health care reform, provide more oversight to big corporate America, and refuse any further help to the scores of unemployed.

Watch everything get passed and shape up nicely.

It actually kind of amazes me how the GOP has managed to garner the support of so much of rural and poor America when so many of their policies are clearly against the interests of that constituency.

Funny how much of a motivator blind vitriol can be.
