Iraqi War? What War? President Who?

Republican strategists — with plenty of help from Democrats and the “media” — have done a brilliant job of pushing George W. Bush out of the public consciousness. He’s the biggest, most bloated pestilent putrid albatross in American history. But how do you turn this albatross into a campaign issue if it’s invisible and nobody ever mentions it?

Republicans — moving in lockstep as always — seem to have an unwritten law against ever mentioning or acknowledging George W. Bush, President of the United States. And it’s working. As Will Durst says, Bush has become “as forgotten as the stitching contractor for the ‘54 DeSoto Diplomat seat vendor.”

We can NOT let this happen.

John McCain should have single digit approval ratings in his campaign for president. He’s pretty much said he’ll be a continuation of the current albatross. Leave No Millionaire Behind, “let’s stay in Iraq for a hundred years,” “fetuses are sacred right up until the moment of birth” — we won’t even be able to tell when the current fuckup has left office and the new one has moved in.

To be fair, there are some differences: McCain is older and has more tantrums.

Eighty percent of Americans think the country is on the wrong track. And yet many of these same people might actually vote for the candidate who will lead us even further down that same track. WAKE!!! UP!!!

The Worst President Ever. The quagmire in Iraq. The two-tiered third-world economy we’re turning into. These issues need to be front and center, 24/7, from now until November. As the conservative rallying cry goes: Never Again!

It’s a shrewd move for the Republicans to turn George W. Bush into an invisible forgotten non-entity. And the corporate “media” is only too happy to cooperate; and besides, they’re more interested in the Britney Industrial Complex.

And that leaves the Democrats. Will they ever ever pull their thumbs out of their asses and do what they have to do?

Unfortunately as long as the dems continue their pissing contest with each other, McCain will continue to fly under the radar.
The media is so incensed with what is happening between Hillary and Barrack, they couldn't give two shits about what is happening with McCain, Bush, or the rest of the GOP elders.
The scary part of this scenario, is turd blossom himself is very much behind the secenes no doubt plotting and scheming on how he can win the election for McCain. The theft that happened in 2000, could very much pale to what could happen in 2008.
And while all this is happening, the press will be talking about who was and who was not wearing a flag lapel pin!

"He’s the biggest, most bloated pestilent putrid albatross in American history."

Not only that, he is the biggest booger-eating, slack-jawed, pea-brained dullard to ever squat in the White House. He is the worst, most pusillanimous, hypocritical testosterone-addled anus to ever orate from the Oval Office. He is possibly the most noncompassionate, inhumane, cruel, blinded-by-religion fellow to ever fool America. The media can absolutely NOT be allowed to let Bush slide from the public eye... McCain needs to be linked to this colossal failure at EVERY turn. The media CAN'T be allowed to give McCain a free ride like they gave Bush in the last couple of elections.

Vice: Hopefully this Tuesday the PA primary will weed out Hillary, and Obama can get on with running for the presidency. Even if not, those 2 are gonna have to quit bickering like a couple of 8-year-olds. I sure hope Rove isn't able to pull strings again this election, but undoubtedly he's behind the scenes as we speak, doing what he does best. But, like you said, the media will be focusing on lapel pins and '60s radicals that Obama once spoke to 30 years ago.

Snave: Don't hold back now, tell us how you really feel :)

Good descriptions of Bush. And yes, McCain needs to be linked to everything Bush has done, since those 2 keep endorsing each other. Hopefully there will be enough bloggers and alternative news sites to bring this to everybody's attention, since the "media" seems to have other priorities.

I've noticed the same thing - George W. Bush WHO? I haven't heard anything about him on the news for weeks.

I agree with Vice; the Democrats have pushed everything else off the radar, and not in a good way.

Hah! I'm loving all these descriptions from you guys!

I am HOPEFUL that once Obama is free to be the party's nominee, he will go after the McCain machine as Bush 3.0. Obama and his handlers are plenty savvy. Yes, we CAN!!!

Mauigirl: Yes, this is totally unacceptable. The Republicans have always been much better at framing the debate and defining the issues, and so far it looks like this election won't be any different.

Candace: When the race boils down to Obama vs. Bush 3.0, the choice should be clear enough for most Americans (not counting those hopeless 20-percenters). So far Obama has shown a good balance; he can play hardball when he needs to, without fighting dirty.

The problem as I see it is that the Clinton camp will not stand down because they would rather see a Republican like McCain in the WH than a fellow Democrat. In the meantime, McCain gets a free pass on things like his statements about how swell the economy has been doing these past seven and a half years because Obama has to defend against the latest wild Clinton every half week or so.

Lew: That's exactly it. The Democrats are too busy fighting each other; they can't be bothered to counter McCain's wacky statements. And the "media" keeps giving McCain a free pass. They give Obama the third degree about not wearing a flag lapel pin, but they won't touch McCain's quick temper, his age, the Keating Five, staying in Iraq for 100 years...

I will have to follow the path of Lew Scannon, unless the Tuesday PA primary really hands her a defeat.

If not then we will see more of the same and look out come this Novenber!

Let's Talk: Yup, it's time for Hillary to hurry up and get defeated. Then hopefully she'll get behind Obama; but I wouldn't count on it. I really think she'd rather have McCain in the White House if she can't get the Dem nomination.

It's really ticking me off that both Obama and Clinton are not taking shots at this administration enough.
Not by a long shot.

Mike: Exactly. They need to attack Bush and McCain (same difference) instead of each other.

The sad reality is that Clinton supports the same political agenda as McCain and Bush. I wonder when people will wake up to this.

Libhom: Yup, sad but true. Billary has better soundbites than McCain but there isn't much difference under the surface.
