The Worst Thing About 9/11

Yes, it’s too bad 3,000 people were killed on September 11, 2001. Three thousand families were torn apart. But much, much worse is the blasphemy — the terrible foul un-Godly language that was uttered that day.

At least that's the viewpoint of the American Family Association (and the drones who love them). Remember, if you’re occupying a skyscraper that’s just been rammed by an airliner, your final words should be “oh, gosh darn it” rather than “F$#!#%&%$#$#%#%###!!!!”

If you’re a rescue worker pulling mutilated bodies out of the rubble, please confine your expletives to “oh dear.” No matter how revolted and sickened you are, you must never say “Jesus F#!%&%#!!”

On September 10th CBS will be airing an updated version of their documentary “9/11.” (It was first aired in March 2002.) The documentary is completely unedited.

The Rev. Donald Wildmon and other members of the bookburning community are appalled; but not because of the unspeakable horror of the 9/11 attacks. Not because of the thousands of family tragedies created that day. No, they’re up in arms because firemen and other rescue workers are shown swearing (gasp!).

The American Family Association is asking CBS affiliates not to air this documentary because of the uncensored language. They’re also demanding that the FCC impose maximum indecency fines against all stations that show this program. Get a life!

And Donald Wildmon — go play with your snakes.

oh my god.
whoops, I meant gosh.
Aren't these the people who should be feeding the poor - but only the white ones. And don't they have an abortion clinic to bomb... I mean demonstrate at.

it just burns me up that so many truly needy people are out there, begging for help and all these jokers can do is focus on the 2nd commandment (or is it 3rd?)

Jesus said love one another like I have loved you.

Apparently, Jesus didn't love these people very well, did he??

this is EXACTLY why I am no longer a christian. I refuse to be associated with the bastardization of a good man.

BaxterWatch: Yeah, I would have thought helping the poor and oppressed would be a higher priority than preaching fire and brimstone; but apparently not. Censoring TV programs seems to be even more fun than demonstrating at abortion clinics.

Well, don't paint us all with the same brush. I'm an evangelic Christian and I have no problem with documentaries that contain profanity.

I don't think I'd use profanity in any particular situation; but I understand that people do, and to airbrush it out of a serious and honest piece does not sanctify anything, in my opinion.

Marie: Thanks for stopping by. I wasn't slamming all Christians, just the well-organized Christian groups who are constantly trying to censor TV programs and movies and force their views on everyone else.

The worst thing about the Sept. 11 attacks, after the fact that we were attacked on our own soil and 3,000 people died, is the way the attacks have been endlessly politicized by the right wing and used as a means to trick people into voting for Republicans by making the voters feel afraid.

This organization's emphasis on "swearing" seems like nothing more than a way to distract people from what is important about the attacks. We were attacked in a deadly manner by people who don't like us. These groups should be more concerned about WHY those people don't like us, and about finding ways to try and help peacefully resolve that problem... than about whether or not some of the heroes swore.

Snave: It's just unbelievable that anyone could be upset about profanity in a 9/11 documentary. For that matter, Jesus probably yelled out a few colorful words while he was being crucified. Maybe the Bibleheads should condemn him too.
