Abortion Battle in South Dakota

South Dakota’s infamous abortion ban might be overturned by The People. A petition has received more than enough signatures to qualify for the ballot. If you like mudslinging campaigns, keep an eye on South Dakota for the next few months.

Every snake-handling speaking-in-tongues Biblehumping group in the country will be heading to South Dakota to save the Spanish Inquisition most restrictive abortion law in the country.

Yup, this is what Jesus would do. You were raped and this pregnancy is endangering your health? Tough shit, you ignorant slut. You were asking for it. What were you wearing?

If Roe vs. Wade gets overturned, the abortion battle will be fought over and over at the state level. The Salem Witch Hunters seem to think every red state is anxious to be propelled back to the 12th century. Let’s hope they’re wrong.

Hopefully the people of South Dakota will vote to make this website irrelevant.

I'm still waiting for the religious freaks to take on Viagra.

Why do I have a feeling we'll be waiting forever??

Mike: No, no, Viagra is a good thing. If Christians use it, there'll be more babies. Christian babies. That's what God intended.

I guess if you're wealthy and influential, the Christian Right will make an exception for you.

Of course, the "Family Values" folks might want to take a little closer look at their leaders-but they won't. They've managed to ignore the stink of their leadership for a decade now.

Jolly Roger: Hey, ask any "family values" type who's the bigger sinner -- a rape victim, or a war-mongering robber baron who cheats on his wife. You know what their answer will be.

Floyd: Yup, all the king's men will try taking this to the state level. We'll just have to hope that most of these states will vote to stay in the 21st century instead of turning the clock back 800 years.

Erik: If George McGovern was dead, he'd be turning in his grave. I don't know if this anti-abortion law reflects the voters of South Dakota or not. I guess we'll find out when this ballot gets voted on.

It si going to take action from the majority of Ameircans to push back the minority Christian Taliban that is seeking to push their skewed moral beliefs on the whole country.

How can one be pro-life yet support war?

Many pseudo-Christians truly believe we are in a religous war, that Islam is evil, and that slaughtering Muslims are a good thing.

These are the same people who then turn around and tell us that abortion is evil and gay marriage is a sin.

How can we trust these people to dictate what morality is?

The answer is we can't. They can chose to live their lives as they see fit. But they MUST NOT be allowed to force their narrow world view on the rest of us.

It will take The People. If The People don't do it, then we will be lost to dictatorship and theocracy.

Mike: I left a humorous comment at your post. (At least I hope it'll be interpreted that way.) Last week I left a tongue-in-cheek comment at Brad's Brain, and another commenter jumped all over me for being a rightwing nutcase.

PoliShifter: Yup, the Christian Taliban will be attacking on every front they can find. State law, federal law, the courts, constitutional amendments, and any loophole they can possibly find. It's a never-ending battle. These people have always been fairly influential in our society, but in the past 25 years their power has grown way out of proportion to their percentage of the population.

If they want to live in a theocracy they can go to Iran.
