Take a Shit on the Constitution, Get Confirmed

Sometime this week — most likely Thursday — the Senate will vote on whether to confirm Michael Hayden as Director of the CIA. According to all the pundits, his confirmation will be a slam dunk.

No wonder the Bush Administration is so full of twisted megalomaniacs. The more ruthless you are, the more you trample on the Bill of Rights, the higher you go. If you display Nazi-like behavior, you get rewarded.

Instigate a massive spying program against American citizens, and get selected to run the CIA. Michael Hayden should be rewarded with treason charges, not a promotion.

Maybe it’s a done deal, but let’s give this the best fight we can. If you don’t think a Josef Stalin wannabe should be running the CIA, click here. Ask your senators to vote against his confirmation.

We need to start demanding some tiny shred of accountability and integrity from the government officials who serve us.

How about a shred of brain power from the previous party's presidency? No, wait. I forgot about Al Gore.

Do you have anything more specific than that? If not, you're wasting my time and yours.

Tom, with Gonzo looking for ways to bring the MSM to its knees, we will get less and less information about what these asshats do. Thats what bothers me the most.

I bow to you!! I am so tired of our "Dictator" and his friends who have made our country their own personal property! What would Thomas Jefferson say? I cannot believe that the American public is so naive! The trouble is the people "serving" us will continue to be re-elected and that is a scary thought!

Dusty: It seems like they're trying to close off every possible channel of dissent. They keep dismantling our Constitutional protections step by step, and they're trying to prosecute any journalist or whistleblower who reports what they're doing. Not good.

Jill: You're right, our Founding Fathers must be turning in their graves. I sure hope these neo-cons won't be re-elected.

Jenn: I don't know about my blood pressure, but if you aren't alarmed by what's going on, you haven't been paying attention.

She's not.

Oh, in case she's wondering, my BP is below normal, particularly for my age (couple months shy of 40)

Mike V.: Yup, I'm inclined to agree. I don't have high blood pressure yet, but with all the news coming out of Washington, I may have to start drinking more blood pressure medicine (Stoli, Jim Beam...)

As my Republican Father-In-Law has said, "What they need to do is take the whole lot of them outback and shoot 'em."

While I might say that that would a be a bit too extreme, I do agree that we need to get rid of the whole bunch, Left and right! And start fresh with people who are genuine and not looking for some sort of payday appointment or office.

These bastards are setting us up for something. Does anyone find it just a little too wierd to have a military man, total Bush-man, appointed? Bush is stacking the deck with his people. We all need to be afraid and we need to be ready to fight.

Botunda: Your father-in-law's approach may be a little extreme, but...

Like you say, Bush is stacking the deck in every way possible. All 3 branches of government, every government agency -- all turned into Bush yes-men. The longer it takes for the democratic process to correct this, the more extreme it'll be when the people finally do take their country back.
