Rumsfeld Really Said This

You can’t make this shit up. According to Rumsfeld, leaving Iraq now would be like giving postwar Germany back to the Nazis.

In a Washington Post column, he wrote “Turning our backs on postwar Iraq today would be the modern equivalent of handing postwar Germany back to the Nazis.”

He said “the terrorists” were trying to fuel sectarian tensions to spark a civil war, but they must be “watching with fear” the progress in the country over the past three years.

::sigh::

How do you respond to anyone so clueless? If somebody tells you the sky is yellow, up is down, do you try to reason with this person? Or do you just shake your head in disbelief?

Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, R-FL, was on Bill Maher asking if the people who don't support the Iraq war would also not support World War II, as if there's any fucking similarity.

Brad: That's a pretty idiotic comparison, that's for sure.

This Rummy comment threw my noggin for a loop, too. I thought, "Let's see...he is comparing the resistance fighters [i.e. evildoing insurgents] to Nazis." What a fugged up guy working for a fugged up president who created this fugged up war!

Al Qaeda has specifically said they wish to take control of Iraq and use it as a launching ground for attacks against America and our allies. It's a more accurate comparison than Dick Durbin comparing the actions of the American military to the Nazis.

Lucy: Oh yes, Atlantis and Oz are part of the Axis of Evil. It's like that South Park episode where the military was gonna launch an attack on Heaven.

Opinionnation: "Al Qaeda has specifically said they wish to take control of Iraq and use it as a launching ground for attacks against America and our allies." If this is true, it's a result of our invasion. Talk about unintended consequences; self-fulfilling prophecies. We attack a country that wasn't a threat to us, and now it's become a threat. With all the international outrage at our Iraqi invasion, every new terrorist recruit is going to head for -- Iraq.

Ronald Dumsfeld is a walking propaganda machine. Most everything he says flies in the face of reason as he professes his undying support to Bush and the neoconservative ideal. What an idiot... I shake my head in disbelief not only when he opens his mouth and speaks, but when I realize nobody has fired him yet. He is what can be called
part of the problem", without doubt.

Snave: Yeah, Rumsfeld has this rare combination of stubbornness and ruthlessness. I don't know if he's stupid or if he just counts on the voters being stupid. He probably has too much power to be fired.
