EPA: Do Your Job!

A Federal Appeals Court has told the Environmental Protection Agency to do its job. In other words a government organization called the Environmental Protection Agency is supposed to, well, protect the environment.

Fourteen states filed a lawsuit to prevent the EPA from loosening air pollution restrictions. And now the U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled in their favor, saying the EPA’s new rules would violate the Clean Air Act.

It’s kind of sad when an agency with “Environmental Protection” in its name has to be told to protect the environment. Thank God for “activist” judges.

The suit was led by New York Attorney General Elliot Spitzer. He said “This is an enormous victory for clean air and for the enforcement of the law and an overwhelming rejection of the Bush administration’s efforts to gut the law. It is a rejection of a flawed policy.”

A spokeswoman for the American Lung Association said “Today's victory means that thousands of Americans will not have their lives cut short because of the pollution that would have blown through this huge loophole.”

Former EPA Administrator Christie Whitman said that she was against the rule when she was in office. She said “I must say that I’m glad they weren’t able to finish the work until after I was home in New Jersey.”

This plan for gutting air pollution regulations was originated by Dick “Fuck Yourself or I’ll shoot you in the face” Cheney. It was one of the ideas that came out of his Top Secret energy task force meetings.

Good for Elliott Spitzer. He seems like a real fighter.

J. Marquis: Yeah, he goes after the kind of white collar crime that too many law-and-order types ignore.

To me this quote on the the lobbyist's reaction was priceless

Friday's decision "is a step backward in the protection of air quality in the United States," said Scott Segal, director of the Electric Reliability Coordinating Council, a Washington-based group representing several power-generating companies. "What is it the environmental community thinks they've won? They've won the ability to place roadblocks in front of energy efficiency projects. This is terrible news."

Talk about the understatement of the year! There were a total of 800 Power Companies (slightly more than "a few")and 17,000 Plants!
Terribly Great News!
Bravo Spitzer!

Information like this makes me wish I were an American so I could try to make a difference, but glad that I'm a Canadian, as our politicians are passive shits instead of aggressive ones. Impeach that @$$ and save your country. It's worth it. P.S. Stephen Harper won the election, I am on my way to hell. See you there. Keep up the good work.

Ted Richardson: Thanks.

P Jordan Sr.: Yeah, I remember seeing that same quote. Unbelievable. Since they're using this Orwellian logic that loosening pollution standards is actually beneficial, they can make it sound like a pro-environment ruling is detrimental. George Orwell had nothing on these people.

Raine: Yeah, we really do need to impeach that @#$!$&!. The sooner the better.

Accendo: Yup, we need these small victories from time to time.
