Bush: “My Dog Ate The Evidence”

OOPS! Some White House e-mails from 2003 weren’t archived properly and now they can’t be found. Oh, gosh darn it all; somebody made a booboo. Oh well, accidents will happen.

By the strangest coincidence, some of these e-mails pertain to the CIA “Plamegate” leak investigation. Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald requested all relevant e-mails, and by golly, some of them are “missing.” As Dana Carvey used to say, “how conveeeenient.”

As you probably remember (and Bush/Rove wants you to forget), Valerie Plame is the CIA agent who was outed by someone in the White House in order to get even with her husband, Joseph Wilson. Wilson publicly refuted Bush’s claim that Saddam Hussein had sought yellowcake uranium from Niger. Wilson needed to be punished by having his wife’s life jeopardized. He won’t disobey the Caliph again, now, will he?

Scooter Libby has already been indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice. But the question remains — how much further up the chain of command does this go? Bush? Cheney? Rove?

And speaking of “how conveeeenient,” Libby’s trial has now been postponed until January 2007 — two months after the 2006 midterm elections. Whew!! Somebody sure is smiling down on this corrupt sleaze-infested administration.

The trial was delayed because one of Libby’s lawyers had a “scheduling conflict.” Riiight. Hey, wanna buy a bridge? How about some oceanfront property in Nebraska? Special offer, just for YOU.

By November 2006, with Libby’s trial still two months away, rumors and speculation might be so hot and heavy that Rove and Co. will regret using their slippery delaying tactic. Sometimes sleazy methods can backfire.

CSC5502D: I'm not here to toot the horn for Clinton (either of them). But Bush is so Godawful, whoever takes his place has to be better, regardless of whether the person is a Democrat, Republican, 3rd party or whatever.

I haven't seen your abrasive comments around the blogosphere lately. I thought maybe you'd retired or something :)

Jolly Roger: Hey, but Clinton did it too :)

Clinton lied about an affair and Bush lied to get us into a 3-year quagmire. See, they're both liars.

Indeed, Tom. When I think of all the people who got killed by that blowjob, well it just sickens me. Really. And when I think about how the cost of that blowjob is going to bankrupt my country and make places like Brazil prosperous in comparison, I just get so angry over it.

And of course that blowjob was part of a worldwide master plan to strengthen the corporate grip -- I mean, establish democracy -- in every corner of the world.

It was easier in the days of Rose Mary Woods. Boy could she erase some evidence!

Erik: Yup, those were the days. Er, I mean, those 18 minutes never existed.

I guess nobody in the current administration can do that fancy yoga posture that Rose Mary Woods was doing. She was typing, and then reached over with her foot and "accidently" hit the erase button on the tape recorder that was 8 feet away. I think that was her story, something like that.

Just like a Republican: try to distract the issue by talking about the past as if it has some sort of relevance to what is going on right now. See also: every time Bush mentions 9/11.

I thought it was already firmly established that Cheney was the one who leaked to Libby? I read that somewhere. Off to the interweb!

And you forgot about Reagan lying about the Iran-Contra scandal and El Salvador.

Brad: I'm sure the Plame leak goes at least as high as Cheney, if not higher. Cheney's higher up the totem pole than Bush, but he's still having his strings pulled by higher-up Neocons at PNAC (among other places).

My favorite irony about Iran-Contra is that North and the others would have done prison time and had permanent felony records; they benefited from one of those bleeding-heart judges that Conservatives are always bashing.

Glad to see you're posting again at Brad's Brain.
