Bush out of step with America

Bush does not share the priorities of most Americans, on either domestic or foreign issues. This is the result of the latest New York Times/CBS poll. 63% said Bush has different domestic priorities than most Americans. Bush’s overall approval rating was 49%, same as last month.
Jobs, health care and Social Security were rated the three most important domestic issues. 50% said Democrats were more likely to make the right decisions about Social Security; 31% favored Republicans.

Did you think foreign policy was Bush’s strong suit? 58% said the White House does not share their priorities on international affairs.

69% said converting Social Security to private accounts was a “bad idea.” Nearly four out of five said the government has some responsibility toward ensuring a decent standard of living for the elderly.

Bush’s one bright spot: 53% think the situation in Iraq is improving. That’s up from 41% last month.

Now, it’s all fine and good that Iraq has had elections, and open and spirited (if a little violent) debates. Yes, most Iraqis are probably better off than they were under Saddam Hussein. But when the Ann Coulters and Rush Limbaughs are shouting this at the top of their lungs, they’re trying to sweep a few things under the rug.

Remember, we didn’t invade Iraq because we wanted to be all warm and fuzzy and throw out that mean old Saddam and replace his government with a democracy. We invaded because Saddam Hussein had Weapons of Mass Destruction. No. Hussein was affiliated with Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda. Noop. He was connected to our September 11th tragedy. Huh uh. Every emergency declared by Bush turned out to be false. The reasons for our invasion kept changing; each one turned out to be a lie.

So while we’re all basking in the afterglow of Iraqi elections and democracy — I‘ve got a little scheme.

I have this loud obnoxious neighbor (don’t we all?). I think I’ll spread some hysterical rumors around the neighborhood that this guy is a major drug dealer, he has underworld connections and he’s armed to the teeth. We’re gonna form a vigilante squad and we’re gonna kill him.

Eventually the truth will come out: he wasn’t a drug dealer, and he had no weapons and no underworld connections. And I’ll just tell everybody “hey, look how much quieter the neighborhood is without him. Do you miss his loud stereo at 3 a.m.? Do you miss those shouting matches at all hours of the night? His wife and kids aren’t walking around with black eyes and bruised faces any more. What, you wish he was still here?”

Think I can pull this off? Hello Karl?

You what is out of touch with Americans? CBS, New York Times, and their biased polls. How about Zogby (excuse the spelling) or Gallop (wait, I forgot, after move-on.org launched that smear campaign against them the left doesn't listen to them anymore)?

Using the neighbor analogy, what if that neighbor DID have drugs, but it you had to launch a damn ad campaign to convince everyone to go and get the drugs, because some of the idiots in you neighborhood didn't want to. You think, given six months, that guy just MIGHT have seen the ads and moved his drugs? Is that feasible? Maybe slightly? What would you say to those stupid neighbors that held up the process for six months when you finally go in and big surprise, the drugs are no longer there, and they say things like "you were lying about the drugs being there in the first place"?

Oh! New York Times and CBS! - Two incredible bastions of credibility!

They didn't ask me to take the poll...

In fact I don't know of any friends or neighbors that have ever taken a poll. Where do they get these numbers? How were the questions framed and asked? In what neighborhoods did the polls take place? Were the questions, area codes, etc. biased???

He is certainly out of step with thinking Americans, but there are quite a few brain dead Americans who still think he's doing a great job. Remember all the polls leading up to the election; they told us that al Qaeda had connections with Saddam Hussein. Everyone who knows the truth knows that this isn't the case, and it was clear then as well. The polls also told us that Saddam had WMD and Iraq was the center of the War on Terrorism. They saw (and some see) the war in Iraq as being about terrorism. Well, it is now, but only because of the invasion.

"THINKING" Americans? Like all those "brilliant" university types that are so smart they can't come up with anything better than recycled vietnam protest slogans like "Bush lied, people died" and "Bush is the new Hitler"? Or all those "THINKING" Americans that think Bush is a bigger threat than Al-Qaeda? I'm sorry, but the reality is that on the war in Iraq, Bush is on the same page as the majority of Americans, whether you have the dignity to admit that or not, Dr. forbush. Now you may never be smart enough to understand the concept, Mr forbush but all the evidence points to the fact that Saddam MOVED OR DISMANTLED his weapons in the months we were twiddling our thumbs before we actually attacked him. Additionally, just because the 9/11 commission said Saddam had no OPERATIONAL relationship with Al-Qaeda as per the 9/11 plot, that by no meant Saddam had NO TIES WHATSOEVER with Al-Qaeda, like you liberals want everyone to believe. In fact, Al-Zarqawi was given ASYLUM in Iraq from U.S. forces after fleeing afganistan. Now if your too dumb/naive to understand that as a CONNECTION or too blinded by BUSH HATRED to see that, then there is nothing America can do for you buddy. Maybe Canada is for you.
